Don't Get Sick Without It: iTriage

iTriage on iPhone

When Noel Boyce’s 15-month old son split his head open, he and his wife had only a vague clue what to do. Holding their child tight in their arms, they immediately headed to a hospital emergency room, but a 5-hour wait time at the first hospital and extended wait times at several more pushed them toward other care alternatives. “Outbreaks of H1N1 left us feeling it would be unwise to spend that kind of time waiting around,” explained Boyce.

Eventually the Boyce family found an urgent care about an hour away that quickly treated their son without exposing him to airborne illnesses that might have been floating around the emergency room. Now, Boyce uses iTriage to locate not only the closest point of care for his family, but also the most appropriate.

Finding Care in Acute Care Situations

As new parents, bumps, bruises, burns and breaks can leave us scrambling for answers. Not knowing what to do or where to go when your kids have an unusual symptom or suffer any type of trauma can create more stress in an already stressful situation. Now, parents and even babysitters and nannies have all those answers in the palm of their hand.

iTriage – first introduced as an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch by Healthagen, is also now available for Android smartphones and for all other Web-enabled devices at www.iTriageHealth.com. Parents can download the free application from the app stores and use it to search the following:

• Thousands of Symptoms
• Diseases
•
Medical Procedures

Unlike other medical applications, iTriage doesn’t just stop there. You’ll also find a nationwide directory of every possible medical facility, including:

• Hospitals
• Urgent Care Centers
• Retail Clinics
• Physicians
• Pharmacies

You can even access ER Wait Times from some hospitals who value transparency for patients and list those through the iTriage application.

A Trusted Medical Source

When seconds count the most, parents need something upon which they can rely. Developed by doctors for patients, iTriage has been embraced by hospital systems around the country that have given their stamp of approval for the iTriage medical information and expanded their facility information onto its platform. Two Colorado emergency physicians developed iTriage after seeing the need to put more medical information into their own patient’s hands. By doing so, Drs. Peter Hudson and Wayne Guerra have now empowered a whole nation of healthcare consumers with a comprehensive and revolutionary acute care decision tool.

“We hear from families all across America and even around the world who have used iTriage to look up their child’s symptoms and medical tests like CBC’s and CT scans that are common knowledge for doctors, but leave new parents scratching their heads,” explained Peter Hudson, M.D., and CEO of Healthagen. “No matter where you are – a sporting event, athletic practice or just on vacation, iTriage can be used to find valuable point-of-care information for the most appropriate medical facility, and even order quality reports directly from your phone for the physician or facility that will be treating your child; that’s the power behind iTriage and it’s all found in the palm of your hand.”
